Recount
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 16, 2026
Recount is a private social memory app for creating and revisiting logs of nights out with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how you can manage or delete your data.
Information We Collect
When you use Recount, we may collect:
- Account information, such as your email address, username, nickname, user ID, and account creation date.
- Profile information you choose to provide, such as your display name or nickname.
- Content you create in the app, including log titles, dates, typed locations, people names, timeline moments, prompted notes, and other text you enter.
- Friendship information, including friend requests, accepted friendships, and account-backed people tags.
- Technical information needed to operate the app, such as authentication/session data and basic server logs from our service providers.
Recount does not currently collect precise GPS location, photos, contacts, advertising identifiers, payment information, or health data.
How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Authenticate you and keep your session secure.
- Save, display, and organize your logs.
- Show logs to you and, where applicable, accepted friends who are tagged in a log.
- Manage friend requests and friendships.
- Maintain app security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
- Respond to support or privacy requests.
Sharing and Visibility
Recount is designed for private sharing, not public posting.
Your logs are visible to you. Some logs may also be visible to accepted friends if they are tagged in that log, based on the app's sharing rules.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Service Providers
We use Supabase to provide authentication, database hosting, backend functions, and related infrastructure. Supabase processes information on our behalf so Recount can operate.
We may use additional service providers in the future for hosting, crash reporting, analytics, email, or support. If we do, we will update this Privacy Policy and our App Store privacy disclosures as needed.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and app content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Recount.
You can delete your account from inside the app. When you delete your account, Recount deletes your account and associated account data, including your profile, owned logs, notes, friendships, and related records, except where we are required to keep information for legal, security, or operational reasons.
If another user manually entered your name or included you in content they created, that content may remain as part of their log unless they delete or edit it. Contact us if you need help with this.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account in the app from the Profile screen by selecting "Delete account."
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. After deletion, you will lose access to your account and saved Recount data.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. Authentication sessions are stored securely on your device using secure device storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Recount is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request a copy of your personal information. You can delete your account in the app, and you may contact us for other privacy requests.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice in the app or through other appropriate means.
